About Carol …

Carol Safran holds a master’s degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and an undergraduate degree from Barnard College, Columbia University.  She has taught in public high schools and has other expertise that uniquely qualifies her to assist in the college application process.

She is the published author of a collection of true stories of personal growth and transformation.  And, she helps students draw upon their “stories” as they compose college essays.  She knows what makes an application stand out for its quality.

Carol's practice was reviewed by David Kaplan in the Sunday Business section of the Houston Chronicle on September 21, 2003. This article does not appear to be available in the archives any longer. An excerpt is provided under Educational Consultants on this site.

Carol and her husband have two sons who attended public schools in Houston, Texas.  One son works in technology for Teach for America in New York City, after having majored in computer science at Harvard; the other graduated from Brown and is now pursing a master’s degree in playwriting at UC San Diego. His work has been produced in London. Carol’s interests include writing, reading, swimming and yoga.
