BUILDING YOUR
RESUME 9-12 GR.
Myths and facts about what admissions officers look for. We
will discuss how you can gain an edge in the application process
from your activities, accomplishments and campus visits.
Recognize your strengths and see what more you might do to be an
even stronger applicant. This class is for parents and students.

WHERE SHOULD I APPLY?
10 -11 GR.
In this 5-hour, 2-evening seminar, explore your academic and
personal aspirations and interests with an experienced college
mentor and Learn about colleges that fit you. You will receive a
reference binder individually tailored to you, with detailed
information about six or more suitable choices, which also shows
programs of study in fields of possible interest to you (i.e.
engineering, communications, art, psychology, etc.) and how they
can vary widely among schools. You will leave with a much firmer
understanding of where you want to apply and why and how to
continue your search on your own. For students only. with parent
meeting at close. Attendance is limited. Price is per student
and includes two sessions.

EFFECTIVE ESSAYS 9 -12 GR.
You do not have to write about overcoming poverty or winning
an Olympic medal. See how caring for a pet squirrel and using
chopsticks to eat matzo balls became compelling essay topics.
Learn to capture your admissions reader's attention at the
start, choose details to add color, avoid generalities and
rambling and end with a punch. We will examine past applicants'
"before" and "after" drafts, and you will learn how to improve
and edit your own work. This class is for parents and students.

WRITING YOUR RESUME 9-12GR.
Learn to use your resume to organize and display your
strengths. We will examine the tools available to you by looking
at multiple samples of headings, fonts, layouts and wording
choices. You will have practice editing a student resume and
learn to critique and improve your own work. This class is for
parents and students. Price is based per family.
