college search and application. Pointers include: how to find schools
you like, become a stronger candidate, and strengthen your essays,
resumes, and interviews; admissions plans (early, rolling, regular);
standardized testing; and things to focus on each year of high school.

Better Essays/Better Resumes

Students and
Parents.
You do not have to climb Everest or find a
cure for AIDS to write a compelling essay. Learn to capture a reader’s
interest, pick themes that work for you, avoid common flaws, edit and
improve your own essay drafts. Learn to select resume headings and
format to make an effective presentation. We will look at actual
“before” and “after” essays and resumes..

Where Should I Apply?

Students Only.
In this 5-hour, 2 evening seminar College Mentor Carol Safran provides
individualized, specific, professional guidance. She helps you
identify your interests, accomplishments, aspirations and preferences,
learn important differences among colleges, and explore specific
options that fit you. You will leave equipped with the following:

Information on
5-8 college choices and possible majors compiled into a personalized
binder .

An
understanding of how to pick schools that are “right” for you.

Tools to devise
a personal strategy of how many colleges to apply to.

An overview of
the application process and how to effectively complete it.
-
Skills to
assist you in doing further research about colleges on your own.
*$275 member/$325 public.
Price is per student and includes two
sessions.
