(For Sophomores and Juniors - Attendance limited.)Mondays, February 14 & 28, 7-9:30 pm $250 JCC Members, $300 PublicThis popular 5-hour seminar provides individualized, in depth, specific, professional guidance in a small group format. College Mentor, Carol Safran, helps you identify your interests, accomplishments, aspirations and preferences, learn important differences among colleges, and explore options that fit you. By the end of the second session you will be equipped with the following: § A personal list of 4-6 college choices. § An understanding of how to pick schools that are “right” for you. § Tools to devise a personal strategy of how many colleges to apply to. § An overview of each section of the application. Build Your Resume/Write Your Resume (For Students and Parents) Thursday, March 10, 7-8:30pm $36 JCC Members, $50 Public. You enhance your chances for college admissions by what you do outside the classroom. This workshop teaches ways to pick activities to become a stronger candidate and strategies to organize a resume to show your strengths. Participants review and analyze sample student resumes. You will learn how to do the following: § Build on what you enjoy while adding strength to your resume. § Devise a personal strategy to present yourself effectively. § Create section headings and select resume format. § Make your resume more than a list of activities. § Use your new skills in college interviews and lifelong professional situations.

You may be wondering whether you should be doing more. (Clubs, service, AP classes?) This workshop helps you to: v Identify strengths you may be overlooking in what you already are doing . v Build on what you enjoy, and become a stronger candidate. v Value not only activities and academics but also your personal qualities. v Determine which standardized tests you want to take and when. v Better understand how admissions officers choose among applicants.
